Slyls View on Good and Evil
To Slyl (not i) Good and Evil is a very blurry line... some good people do things that other think is evil or bad and some Evil people have done things that seem good but its the reasons they do the deeds and what thier intentions are that makes a person good or evil... to slyl killing is an evil thing.. but even the good must do it...with a just cause killing (with a reason..random slaughter is evil period) is neither good or evil as it is both..there is neutrality to it.. (one of the main reasons slyl is neutral is that he feels this group is attempting to help all of the vast so killing those that are doing the opposite would be a "neutral" act to him)..more will be said as i go on...

Mommy!? Can I please go play with Jimmy in the Undead Mine? There's a really nice assassin teaching a lesson on morality!
LOL
lol Tom..im just trying to show the grp how slyl thinks...as i dont believe we can rp all of our interactions (...evan and corim interacting makes me giggle) so i believe i would have made hints at how i view this band and the baneites...and yes..im a nice assassin....very nice...unless your on my list (checks list for DM Tom then smiles)......
He’s not evil he’s just misunderstood. Maybe He’s not good he’s just misunderstood or something like that :) Maybe it’s more important to feel like your good and not actually be good? I know I feel good (most of the time) and I am good (most of the time). Slyl can be anything he wants when he grows up Mr. DM. :) Isn’t it most important to live long enough to have time to think about things like this?
Slyl, my comment was truly just a joke. Thank you for your on-going sharing of Slyl's thoughts and intentions. Please feel encouraged and respected for your views.
Having said that, here is another joke:
[assistant pastor calming down a gossiping congregation]
"Okay, shhhhh, quiet down everyone, I have a few announcements. Thank you.
Would the owner of a poisoned vorpal dagger, a vile of Banelar venom, and a leaking severed head, please make your way to the parkinglot, your lights are on.
Er, secondly, next Sunday, due to the sudden, instantaneous though untimely death of our pastor, the homily will be delivered by a greasy-haired, suspicious vagrant from Waterdeep. The topic is "Assassinations & Charitable Good Works."
.....assassination and other cheritable good works...sounds like something slyl would write
Slyl, my friend, I have no doubt that you are one in cause with the rest of us.
But I do see that you have other plans that may or may not include the Company of Light and Darkness
Please try to ignore the giggling fool.
Sincere commentary:
Sincerely Slyl, I interpret your post to mean Slyl justifies killing (in whatever capacity - - assassination, combat, etc.,...) as a means to the end, where the end is the determining factor that tips the scales between evil and neutrality. In other words, by his own definition, killing, is in-and-of-itself just an act that serves a moral purpose.
It stands to reason, as Slyl points out, that the "act" is done by good - neutral - and evil persons alike.
In the same way a butter-knife can be used to butter bread, or to slay someone.
I find Slyl's views very interesting and this post was tremendously helpful in 'getting inside his head.'
Keep up the good work and I encourage you to express some of these views in character at the table. It would be interesting to see the reactions.
well it really matters on how things happen...you must remember..slyl didnt talk for 5 years..and in the latst 2-3 days hes been talking..a lot for someone that liked to be viewed as a mute...to be honest..i am going to go back to that way when we run into towns and stuff...keeps people on thier feet
and yes.."killing is killing weather done for duty profit or fun"... but good and evil do both..its just the end that justifies the means
I hope killing a comrade is never on your mind. I am concerned for you sanity. Maybe all who share the blood of demons are insane, but then Corim seems stable.
Skill check (DC20) reveals Slyl shows no telltale signs of insanity that you are aware of.
Wow—quite sane, yet uniquely different.
Sanity is saying yes or no to the wrong thing..like ever have a strange idea pop into your head..like say your shaving..and you think to yourself..you know..i could run this razor RIGHT down my tounge...now if you say no to this immediatly..your sane..if you say no but hesitate..you are.."unstable"..if you say yes to that...well..its the funny farm for you dear one
